EUR 468m - PERILS releases third loss estimate for Windstorm Goretti
PERILS has today disclosed its third loss estimate for extratropical windstorm “Goretti”, also known as “Elli”. The storm affected southwest England, northern France and Belgium on 8 and 9 January 2026.
PERILS’ third loss estimate stands at EUR 468 million, representing the insurance market loss six months after the event and providing a detailed breakdown by CRESTA zone. This compares with earlier estimates of EUR 467 million and EUR 479 million, published six weeks and three months after the event, respectively. For the first time, the industry loss footprint of a European windstorm event also includes motor loss data at CRESTA-zone level.
