EUR 1,889m - PERILS releases initial loss estimate for Windstorm Ciarán (Emir)
PERILS has today disclosed its initial loss estimate for extratropical windstorm “Ciarán”, also known as “Emir”. The storm affected France, Belgium, the United Kingdom as well as the Netherlands from 1 to 2 November 2023.
PERILS’ initial estimate of the insurance market loss is EUR 1,889 million with the majority related to wind losses in France. The PERILS industry loss figure is based on loss data collected from affected insurers and covers the property line of business.
Ciarán was followed by extratropical windstorm “Domingos” which did not exceed PERILS’ reporting threshold of EUR 300m.
