PERILS has today disclosed its initial industry loss estimate for the bushfires which affected the state of Victoria in southeastern Australia from 7 to 13 January 2026.
The initial estimate, which provides a snapshot of the insurance market six weeks after the event, is AUD 786 million. This industry loss figure is based on loss data collected from affected insurers and covers property and motor claims.
