CatIQ and PERILS have today disclosed their final industry loss estimate for the flooding related to the remnants of Hurricane Debby that affected Ontario and Quebec between 9 and 10 August 2024.
In their sixth loss report, which provides a snapshot of the insurance market two years after the event by high resolution CRESTA Zones, CatIQ and PERILS estimate that the event has cost the insurance industry a total of CAD 2,800 million. This compares to the fifth loss estimate of CAD 2,806 million, issued one year post-event.
This industry loss figure is based on detailed loss data collected from affected insurers and covers the property and motor lines of business.
