Industry Solutions Overview

PERILS was created for the mutual benefit of all insurance industry stakeholders, including the public. It makes available accurate European windstorm industry exposure (sums insured) and industry event loss data (insured loss amounts) for the first time. When combined, these two types of data contribute significantly to a better understanding of insured European windstorm risk. In the future, historical statistics will also be made available.

PERILS event loss data also serve as indices in insurance-linked securities (ILS) and industry loss warranties (ILW), and therefore contribute to the liquidity of the natural catastrophe insurance, reinsurance and retrocession markets.
